PSCU released QuickAssist for debit, with the aim of enabling better service and front line efficiency for both credit and debit. PSCU’s QuickAssist is a web-based solution that helps front line credit union staff more rapidly and efficiently resolve member requests for service on accounts that reside on PSCU-hosted systems.

County Schools FCU Converts to CU*NorthWest

Liberty Lake-based core data processor, CU*NorthWest, announced that County Schools FCU of Ventura, CA, successfully converted to the CU*BASE data processing system. The credit union represents 7,400 members and $53.7 million in assets.

Dell EMC unveiled its new Machine and Deep Learning Ready Bundles that aim to accelerate the adoption of machine learning and deep learning in the enterprise. The bundles will include servers, storage, networking tools, and services to help with the process. Dell EMC believes that the new bundles will enable customers to gain deeper insights from their data, recognizing important patterns for human behavior and business trends, plus they will help lower the cost of moving data into hybrid cloud environments.

Kony Wants to Help Smaller FIs Provide 'Differentiated' Mobile Banking

Just having a mobile app is no longer a differentiating factor for consumers when it comes to picking a FI, but that doesn’t mean consumers aren’t searching for a unique mobile banking experience. However, for those regional FIs without the assets of mega-banks, providing a tailored mobile experience with unique features can be tricky, not to mention costly. Kony’s Digital Banking Marketplace helps FIs to quickly integrate different capabilities into their mobile apps, seeking to provide the necessary customization without the usual cost, the company says.

Tap to Activate Your Debit Card

British FI Monzo is using NFC (near field communication) to activate their Monzo debit card just by tapping it on a mobile phone. They read the NFC tag and check whether it has the expected data about the card, and from there they extract the PAN number i.e. the long number on the front of your card. The PAN number is then sent to Monzo's backend servers, and used to activate the card.

CUs Reckoning with Advent of Apple Pay Cash

Apple’s forthcoming Apple Pay Cash will likely become the next in a long line of P2P offerings that are forcing credit unions to think about the future of their noninterest income, industry experts say. Apple Pay Cash allows users to send and receive money in Apple Messages. They can use money with Apple Pay Cash in stores, on the Web or in apps. The feature also works with Siri, and member can use cards already in their Apple wallets, according to the company. There is no fee to use Apple Pay Cash with a debit card, but there is a 3% fee to send money using a credit card.

Sharp Rise in Fileless Attacks Evading Endpoint Security

A new Ponemon Institute survey of 665 IT and security leaders finds that over-reliance on traditional endpoint security is leaving organizations exposed to significant risk. 54 percent of respondents said their company experienced a successful attack. Of those respondents, 77 percent were victim to fileless attack or exploit.

The Clearing House’s Real-Time Payments System Goes Live

The Clearing House’s much-anticipated real-time payments system, dubbed RTP, just went live, ushering in a new era of faster electronic payments in the United States. RTP is the “first new core payments infrastructure in the U.S. in more than 40 years,” according to The Clearing House. TCH’s system, which enables participants to send detailed messages along with payments that can clear within seconds, tied for the highest marks in the Federal Reserve’s recent Faster Payments initiative in which outside reviewers assessed 16 proposals to speed up U.S. electronic payments.

American Express Adds B2B Blockchain Payments for Faster Transfers, Added Security

American Express launched instant blockchain payments for US business users sending money to select UK businesses, the company announced. The company's FX International Payments service is working with blockchain solution provider Ripple. By using blockchain, the payments are instant, trackable, and don't require a credit card.

AT&T Sharpens SD-WAN and FlexWare Focus

As AT&T virtualizes more of its network, the service provider is keen on enabling its business customers to take advantage of the cost savings benefits of SD-WAN and FlexWare, two key elements of its intelligent network edge vision. While the company has not been very public about its SD-WAN plans outside of an announcement last year that VeloCloud was one of its vendor partners, the service provider has already conducted 100,000 deployments.
