A recent decision by the U.S. Supreme Court could put an end to the practice of shopping for a friendly court by complainants in patent cases. In TC Heartland LLC v. Nearly two-thirds (63%) of smartphone users worldwide use their device every 30 minutes or more, and over a fifth (22%) tap into their phones every 5 minutes, according to the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB)’s “Always On – A Global Perspective of Mobile Consumer Experience,” an in-depth survey of smartphone users compiled from 18 countries around the world. Respondents came from North America, South America, Asia, Europe, and Africa, and the majority of them, no matter their location, report that they access the Internet via mobile web and mobile apps at least once a day (mobile web – 88% and mobile apps – 84%).
Despite a strong consensus among consumers and FIs that biometrics should replace passwords for access to financial accounts, knowledge gaps are slowing the transition, according to the report “Mobile Biometrics in Financial Services: A Five Factor Framework,” released by researchers from Oxford University and Mastercard.

FICO just announced the availability of FICO Card Compromise Manager, an anti-fraud solution that can help proactively detect and prioritize compromised merchants and data breaches involving card data. The companion to FICO Falcon Platform, Card Compromise Manager is capable of detecting card present, card not present and ATM fraud. It uses analytics to provide a ranked list of potential compromises and recommended actions to minimize losses and customer impact.
Toshiba’s Client Solutions Division just announced the addition of Toshiba Mobile Zero Client and Toshiba Smart Data Encryption with BitLocker Management as part of the company’s Security Solutions Suite. Toshiba plans to offer Toshiba Mobile Zero Client and SmartDE solutions to meet diverse, mobile, endpoint IT security needs where compliance and security regulations are particularly stringent.
Palo Alto Networks just announced GlobalProtect cloud service, a new offering that provides the Palo Alto Networks next-generation security infrastructure as a cloud-based service for remote offices and mobile users.
Vidder announced the addition of endpoint trust assessment to its PrecisionAccess solution. With trust assessment, PrecisionAccess allows only trusted clients to access enterprise applications – isolating compromised devices from accessing them – a first for access control solutions. PrecisionAccess already helps protect applications and servers from unauthorized users, unregistered devices, and attackers with stolen credentials, whether the apps are internal or cloud-based.

The Interactive Advertising Bureau has been working with two dozen digital media players in recent weeks to put together a document called “Mobile Identity Guide for Marketers.” The report is designed to help marketers utilize identity data management for better targeting, measurement, attribution and ad relevancy.
With the right marketing strategy, credit unions can be very successful on Instagram. A new Bouncepad survey reveals U.S. consumers love stores that offer technology and they want more tech options in the shopping experience. The study results cite that three out of four want more tech and say they are more likely to visit a retailer if desired tech was available. More than three quarters (78 percent) want retailers to do a better job of using technology to boost their experience. The research also notes that nearly two out of three consumers prefer self-serve compared to waiting on a line or having to track down an associate for help or a purchase. The survey states that two out of three (66 percent of consumers) have used self-service tables and kiosks in the retail environment.
According to the 2016 Annual Billing Household Survey, individuals use an average of 3.6 different payment methods each month for their bills. Mobile payment use increased significantly, with 33 percent of online households reporting to have paid a monthly bill through their mobile phone, a 22 percent increase compared to last year.

Aryaka just announced SmartACCESS, a clientless SD-WAN product designed specifically for remote workers. Aryaka’s SmartACCESS SD-WAN product helps improve application performance for remote and mobile workers, providing a global private network, WAN optimization and dynamic IP app acceleration.
CenturyLink has launched its Managed Enterprise with Cisco Meraki, giving customers greater visibility into their SD-WAN and other wireline and wireless-related services. By leveraging Cisco Meraki products, CenturyLink said this managed solution enables single- or multisite customers to use CenturyLink to provide all components, including devices, licenses, connectivity, management and support.
Open Systems created a security-networking bundled services that places an x86 appliance, its Mission Control platform, on the customer premises. Open Systems provides an integrated bundle for other best-of-breed software packages. All totaled the company claims Mission Control’s capabilities span six areas: network security, application delivery, identity management, integrated service management and global connectivity.
Farsight Security and Infoblox announced a reseller partnership that will integrate Farsight’s Newly Observed Domains solution with the Infoblox ActiveTrust platform to help significantly reduce the risk of cyberattacks associated with new domains.
According to Deloitte, 92% of organizations that view customer experience as a differentiator offer multiple contact channels. Although calling will always be one way consumers prefer to get issues resolved, things like IVR mazes and long wait times bog this option down. Email often takes time. Web chat can work, but today’s consumers spend more time on their mobile phones. Combining texting with calling can help you deliver high touch service.
