Windows 10's New Enterprise-Grade Security Will Block Suspect App Behavior

Microsoft says elements of Windows 10's Enterprise edition's Attack Surface Reduction (ASR) feature, part of Windows Defender Exploit Guard, will be made available in all versions of Windows 10. Despite Growth in Mobile and Online Payments, Longstanding Payment Patterns Persist

Now in its 10th year, the latest payment-choice study found that debit cards, cash, and credit cards remain the three most popular payment forms. Debit cards accounted for 31% of monthly payments in 2017, cash for 27%, and credit cards for 23%. In 2015, debit cards’ payment share was 32% compared with 27% for cash and 21% for credit cards. The slight increase in cash usage from 2015-17 is not statistically significant, the Federal Reserve Bank report says.

Many Small Biz Owners Have Negative Perceptions of Online Lenders

Many American small business owners have negative perceptions of online lenders and online lending, according to a new study released by the Federal Reserve Board and the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. The new “Browsing to Borrow: ‘Mom & Pop’ Small Business Perspectives on Online Lenders” study report examines small business owners' perceptions of online lenders and their understanding and interpretation of the information that online lenders use to describe their credit products.

First Tech FCU Simplifies Member Loan Process Time with 2.0 Upgrade

The $12-billion Mountain View, CA-based First Tech FCU announced their roll-out of its omnichannel 2.0 experience to its 500,000-plus members, which allows faster and easier payments and card applications. According to the CU, the new process, which began in May 2018 and was 18 months in the making, delivers the most personalized banking experience to-date and significantly simplifies processes and sources data from a single platform. For example, cutting member and loan application time from 30-45 minutes to just 10; and, application questions from 40 to just eight.

BT Prepares Launch of New Bandwidth-on-Demand Service for Internet

As its name implies, bandwidth on demand gives BT's business customers the flexibility to increase their bandwidth as needed to meet peak needs. Bandwidth on demand could also lower the cost structure for businesses by giving them more control of their networks. Bandwidth on demand is a feature on BT IP Connect Global, which is BT’s wide area networking service available in 198 countries and territories. Orange Business Services, AT&T and Verizon have also trialled or deployed their own versions of bandwidth-on-demand services using universal customer premises equipment (uCPE) or virtualized customer premises equipment (vCPU). UCPE and vCPU allow service providers to offer virtualized services to their business customers on lower cost x86 servers without the need for proprietary appliances.

Google Is Reportedly Looking to Take over Call Centers with Its Duplex AI Assistant

When Google introduced Google Duplex, its AI assistant designed to speak like a human, the company showed off how the average person could use the tech to save time making reservations and whatnot. However, now The Information is reporting the company is already in conversations with at least one potential customer that would like to integrate Duplex into its operations. That firm, an unnamed large insurance company, is reportedly interested in using the voice assistant to handle simple, straightforward customer service calls.
